Epithetik is a relevant niche in the medical industry and "dedicates itself to the prosthetic rehabilitation of head and neck defects," according to the definition. Simply put: The affected individuals suffer from a visibly missing element in the face, such as an eye, nose, or ear. In Germany, there are only a few providers of epitheses, and certified epithesist Dorothee Siekmann is one of them. With her institute, Epithetik-Freiburg, she specializes in facial prostheses like eyes, ears, or noses. Siekmann's standard for herself and her painstakingly handcrafted products is maximum perfection because, thanks to her precise work, patients regain a new quality of life.
So, it’s a lot, or rather, everything—at least for the affected target group. The challenge: An empathetic corporate design should visually convey this sensitive topic with dignity, uniting both the medical and human aspects along with Siekmann's professionalism. The idea: The deficit is represented with visual elements. This mechanic consistently runs through the brand and the campaign tools. It starts with the logo. The two i-letters in the word "Epithetik" were omitted and only indicated with the i-dot inside a square in the color tone Cutis (skin). The message: The missing part is taken care of by the Epithetik-Freiburg institute.
Integrated into a calming color concept, the i-dot is the main graphic element.
The square can be placed at various points of aesthetic portraits and symbolizes Siekmann’s range of prostheses in a subtle way, not too playful, not too cold. The CI has, among other things, been transferred to the new homepage. We are happy that we were able to support Dorothee Siekmann a little in her great task of giving people back their joy of life.
